What could be more cool than fossils embedded in your earrings or pendant necklace? For the Paleontology Collection we are trying to find more and more stones with clear, embedded fossils. For example, we have "Fossil Hunter", made of turritella fossil agate. This stone, from the Green River Formation in Wyoming, contains numerous freshwater spiral snail shells that have been "agatized" over millennia by the infiltration of mineral-containing water.
Another variety of fossilized agate is coral fossil, comprised of thousands of tiny branches of coral that usually appear sliced in cross-section. See our "Ancient Sea" earrings. We plan to add more to this collection because there are some exciting, although more expensive, fossil stones available for jewelry use. Stay tuned!
