Crazy lace agate can be a beautiful and intriguing stone. Most is mined in Mexico, in the Chihuahua and Sonoran deserts. We obtained a small quantity of nice samples at the Tucson Gem and Mineral Show, and have been turning them into necklaces, bracelets, and earrings. These earrings are composed of oval agates topped with smoky quartz. The agates are 0.8 inches long (20mm), and hang from goldtone French wires that are tarnish resistant, and lead and nickel-free. Of course there are natural variations, but you will get a well-matched pair that shows some of the banding patterns characteristic of the stone.
